About Me

I am School Counselor based in Southern Illinois. I am Board Certified through NBCC and a State of Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor.

I started my career out at Chester High School in Chester, IL in 2008. In 2014 I was honored as the Illinois School Counselor Association High School Counselor of the Year, and in 2016 I was the American School Counselor Association Illinois honoree at the annual White House Ceremony. In 2017 I transitioned to Carbondale Community High School to work with the Class of 2020 until they graduated, then I accepted a position as the school counselor at Elverado High School in Elkville, IL where I currently serve grades 9-12 as a lone ranger.

Prior to my first position at Chester High School I interned at Herrin Middle School and Carterville Tri-C Elementary. I also served as a TA throughout my last year of graduate school, teaching several sections of Educational Psychology courses designed for aspiring teachers, and also assisted with a Basic Counseling Skills course (Skills Lab instructor) for Master's Counseling students.

Prior to entering the counseling profession I was a Litigation Paralegal and a high school registrar.

My past career, professional and educational experiences have all influenced the counselor I am today.

I created School Counselor Space to share my professional journey, connect with other school counselors, learn from my less successful school counseling endeavors, promote professional growth & inspire greatness for myself & others.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you will find something that inspires you.

Please continue to make space in your day for inspiration & opportunities for professional growth.

I look forward to & appreciate your comments on the blog.
